Ms Collins brings Brazilian heat to Melbourne with Veuve Clicquot Carnaval

Ms Collins hosted the Veuve Clicquot Carnaval in an event that brought some warmth to a chilly Melbourne winter night. In true Brazil fashion, the evening featured traditional Carnaval entertainment including samba dancers and steel drums, and Latin American inspired dishes.

Veuve Clicquot’s roots date as far back as 1772.  Now, products and brands evolve with time – they have to remain adaptive and flexible.  Veuve Clicquot has created a short range of products that has stood the test of time for more than two centuries. The Veuve Clicquot brute was featured tonight. Served in the in signature yellow flute glasses, its not too dry or bubbly, but is a full-bodied champagne with a soft, yet smooth finish.

Guests enjoyed an evening of free flowing champagne from 10pm accompanied with Brazilian RnB beats by Melbourne’s DJ dream team B-Love, Khanh Ong and more. The Rio inspired Carnaval theme celebrates Veuve Clicquot’s brand signature ‘let life surprise you’. The World Loves Melbourne was blown away with Brazilian performances, dances, drummers, venue activations, a beauty room take over by Carlisle Street’s BEAUTYOLOGIST and VIP Veuve Clicquot booths. An invite only media event was held in the champagne bar, showcasing an intimate Q&A by Moet Hennessey reps. With complimentary Veuve Clicquot champagne and Latin American dishes by Paul Wilson.

The food menu, created by Chef Paul Wilson who is regarded as Australia’s prominent expert on Latin food cultures, did not disappoint. We were given samples of some of the dishes (all currently available New World Kitchen menu) to go with the seemingly endless flutes of Veuve Clicquot.

Smoked quail anticuchos

If you’ve never had quail, this would be the place to try it. It doesn’t taste as exotic as some might think, rather its taste is familiar, like chicken. This was served on a skewer, wrapped in bacon and seasoned beautiful with panca chilli and Inca spices.

Organic blue corn tostada with super food and guacamole

Adding colour to any dish always brightens it up. The blue corn tortilla chips contrasted with the soulfood guacamole garnished with crunchy peptia seeds and broccoli was the perfect combo. It tasted so good I forgot that this was a relatively healthy dish.

Beef brisket & picadillo stuffed empanadas

Empanadas are highly popular within the Latin culture and quite versatile. These scrumptious pods can be prepared with so many different types of fillings and tonight we enjoyed a classic: tender beef, an aromatic mix of sherry and sweet spices, olives, raisins and pine kernels.
