Dessert House Eatery is a popular modern Hong Kong influenced restaurant with excellent food and friendly staff. It’s one of those understated and underrated places that serve excellent food! I’ve walked past it many times thinking it was a dessert house with no savoury – but it’s not! It offers many classic Hong Kong dishes and is a restaurant of quality.
The menu here is extensive. Dessert House Eatery brought on some great sizzling dishes that look spectacular! Another hit here is the Lemongrass Chicken – maybe I’ll try it next time.
I ordered the spicy rib chicken on rice – a dish that I’ve started to order often at Chinese restaurants. Dessert Eatery does a great version of this dish – the chicken is indeed spicy and crispy! The inside of the chicken is tender! I couldn’t help picking up the bones and gnawing them. I’m still not sure whether this is great etiquette?
Love the bright colours including the orange wall! Love the mosaic tiles! Love the funky lighting! They also have an upstairs area.
The staff are super friendly here. When I entered I was quickly greeted and shown to a seat. Menu was presented and order taken quickly with good explanation od the dishes. The waitress asked afterwards whether I enjoyed the meal and explained most of the staff have come from Hong Kong. I love Hong Kong!
Dessert Eatery is popular with students and city workers alike. Always seems to be packed. The only thing I’m not crazy on is water served in plastic cups – but this is the case with a number of establishments. But I love it! Great find!
