Melbourne-based social platform eatwithme.net will encourage locals to try something new at their second Dining With Strangers event, to be held on Thursday January 31, 2013 at South Wharf Promenade eatery, The Sharing House.

‘Eat With Me is all about sharing food and experience, so The Sharing House is a great fit for this event,’ says site co-founder Bethany Jones.

Located on the revamped South Wharf Promenade, The Sharing House will open its doors to 30 guests, who will arrive as strangers but may leave as friends.

‘Dining With Strangers is a concept that’s central to Eat With Me, which often brings together a group of people who have never met,’ says Jones.

‘It’s remarkable to see people who may never have crossed paths engaged in fantastic conversation – that’s part of the magic of sharing a meal with others.’

Founded in 2010, eatwithme.net is based on this principle – connecting people through food. Events, which include picnics, cheese tastings, and dumpling workshops, are held worldwide in public spaces, restaurants, and members’ homes.

The first Dining With Strangers took place in July 2011 in conjunction with the State of Design Festival.

Eatwithme.net is a free-to-join online community that allows members to connect with one another at worldwide events focused on food and dining.

The Sharing House is a fun and eclectic restaurant that features a modern sharing-style menu conceived by Head Chef (and The Age Good Food Guide Young Chef of the Year 2013) Mark Briggs.

Event Details:
Time: Thursday January 31, 2013 from 6:30pm
Place: The Sharing House, 35 South Wharf Promenade (off Dukes Walk), South Wharf
Cost: $55
