Most of us love gingerbread! And gingerbread seems to feature more and more come the festive season! Gingerbread by Epicure is a great exhibition for foodies and a great exhibition to bring the kids! This is a highly impressive exhibition taking the chefs 2 months to construct the gingerbread village.

The modules are large and involve great detail and include iconic Melbourne landmarks. A video presentation shows the whole process of how the masterchefs constructed the village from scratch!

Love that Epicure pastry chefs have whipped up some gingerbread creations for sale at the shop – profits go to the Starlight Foundation. Personally I purchased a gingerbread heart that my wife and I found delicious. Quality gingerbread and icing that holds together and isn’t too dry. A popular purchase is the gingerbread man. Also macaroons and chocolate coated nuts.

Donations to the Starlight Foundation receive a cardboard gingerbread man which is then placed on a Christmas Tree. The Tree (and donations) is presented to the Foundation at Christmas. Awesome!

Gingerbread Village by Epicure, City Gallery 90-120 Swanston St CBD open to Christmas daily 11am to 6pm

David Hagger is a bald headed man with a penchant for finery, convivial dining, and festive culture. He honestly believes Melbourne is an impressive global city.
