Love visiting great cafes in the burbs! Snow Pony delivers! One of the best cafes in the eastern suburbs. We made a rendezvous at Snow Pony somewhere in between where I live, the airport and the football. That was because my dad was across from Adelaide and we needed somewhere central to meet.

Love the iconic Snow Pony head mounted outside this restaurant – as did my kids!

Snow Pony is a touch of class! The website describes it as, “Snow Pony is an eclectic space made up of white washed walls, terrazzo floors, beautiful old leather banquettes, industrial communal tables and lights, and an impressive photo as the main feature of the café. Or meander through to the back room, where French tables mingle with white linen and onto the outside decking lined with wisteria and old industrial church pews.” Wow!

I loved the rustic appeal and intimacy of the back room. Only two other tables there so it felt almost like a private dining room for our family occasion.

I was impressed with the devotion to fresh quality produce. Again their website speaks of Roberto the mushroom man from Yarra Valley, the Artisan organic breads from Noisette in Port Melbourne, Andrea’s Portuguese tarts, Shelley and Allan Green eggs from the Grampians, Tom coopers magnificent smoked salmon, chorizo from Casa Iberica, our olive oil is personally blended from the Peninsula, our herbs are torn NOT chopped, our butter comes from down Gippsland way…” Impressive!

I ordered two of the infamous gourmet alternative to the McMuffin – which is the McPony – English muffin stuffed w/ ham off the bone, emmental cheese + creamy dreamy scrambles… Yum! Each muffin is actually filling so deciding to eat two was a brave move. So delish as it featured ham off the bone and wonderfully cooked eggs and tasty cheese. The Mc Pony wins hands (hoofs) down!

Other breakfast options are amazing! ‘Bang Bang’ eggs - poached on toasted grain bread w/ fresh spinach, roasted pepper salad, hazelnut dukkah is almost a health option! An absolute winner for those not wanting a big fry up!

Giddy Up – poached eggs, bacon, slow roasted tomato, avocado + thyme buttered mushies is a great option for the big breakfast. My wife chose the Seasonal fruits, rosewater, Snow pony made muesli + a pot of cleo’s yoghurt… Again, wow factor!

Staff are friendly, even when you spill a drink everywhere! And coffee at Snow Pony is excellent!
