Route 45 American Diner in Pran Central

Pran Central has welcomed Route 45, a nostalgic American diner dishing up mouth-watering burgers, wings, ribs, hot dogs and shakes for those after a little more than a regular burger house. The World Loves Melbourne was invited along to check out this American diner experience.

We were keen to try the King Parma; a monster Parma in the classic style with juicy chicken (full marks), Bobo's Napoli sauce, panko crumb, shredded ham and super cheesy. Served with fries and salad. There's no way you will be hungry after this Parma but even better the quality is excellent.

The Tennessee Ribs were also a hit with home made Carolina bbq sauce and Jack Daniels maple glaze, and served with fries and salad. Tasty pork ribs and standout sticky sauce.

Based on an ethos of making everything possible from scratch – including the sauces, Route 45 prides itself on fresh, quality ingredients that you can taste. There are over 15 different types of burgers to choose from, as well as parmas, ribs, steaks, vegetarian and vegan options and a variety of mains, including seafood. It's a comprehensive menu to suit all tastes.

Fit out is modern with neon burger sign and bright yellow tables. Personally I enjoyed the American music and th epalce has a real diner feel.

Drinks include everything from beers and ciders to shakes, alcoholic shakes, cocktails and more.

“While other American-style diners work off the stereotypical 50s era of over-the-top glamour and greasy food, at Route 45 we deliver the nostalgia of that time in a more refined and modern way,” says owner George Stathakopoulos.

This is the third venture for George, heralding from 45 Moires in Athens and Bobo’s Diner in Frankston where Route 45 evolved. Drawing on George’s Greek origins, where he gained years of hospitality experience, the team of head chefs have spent hours perfecting each and every recipe to ensure it reflects the same level of prestige. We were able to chat with George and Route 45 is definitely a passion. Highly recommended.
