Epic Patricia Ball at Brown Brothers in Milawa
We recently celebrated the 20th Annual Release of Patricia wines with Brown Brothers first Patricia Ball. It was a gala event of epic proportions, with guests enjoying spanner crab and oyster canapés with select wines, before being seated at a long table outdoors (121 guests) for a decadent set-course dinner to remember, curated by hatted Head Chef Bodee Price. We also enjoyed speeches from family members, exceptional aged and current wines, as well as fine entertainment (including a band and a quiz). One of the events of the year and such a privilege to attend.
First launched in 2003, the Patricia range today is more than just a legacy. It’s a celebration of the much-loved family matriarch, Patricia Brown, whose passion and tireless contribution have been fundamental in helping make Brown Brothers the success it is today.
Our famil started with a check in at fabulous Lancemore Hotel Milawa then a tasting and tour of Brown Brothers with Andrew Harris (Brown Brothers Wine Educator and Ambassador) at cellar door for gourmet snacks and wine.
This was followed by a Blending activation with staff member Rose of discovery, featuring some of Brown Brothers classic wine varietals including Shiraz, Merlot and Cabernet, also learning about specific wine characteristics and sustainable vineyard practices. We were able to blend, bottle and label our unique creation for a souvenir to take home!
We returned to Lancemore Hotel Milawa to get ready for the evening (loved my well-appointed King Bed room), and arrived back at 7pm for the Patricia Ball, with guests all glammed up at this black tie event.
What a night! Even to hear about the amazing matriarch Patricia and the philosophy of these special wines. It was a revelation to learn about each wine and about this unique fourth generation (soon to be 5th) Australian winery from Katherine Brown, with Emma Brown also making a speech. Ross Brown also gave a heartfelt speech speaking of Patricia.

After a sensational evening we enjoyed breakfast kindly provided by Lancemore Milawa in the Merlot Restaurant.
After our hearty breakfast in Merlot restaurant we embarked on a Winery Tour with Katherine Brown at Brown Brothers featuring behind the scenes operations (during the vintage process) as she took us on a true adventure of the family’s Milawa home, tasting our way through decades of discovery, family history, winemaking and more.
We acted on a hot tip and visited Milawa Cheese and the Bakery on our way home.
