High Quality Casual Lunch at OTOTO Melbourne
OTOTO Melbourne surprises with its excellent high quality and great value izakaya-style lunch menu, a gem in the heart of the Melbourne CBD. This is the place for high quality rice dons and ramens!
We journeyed to OTOTO in Flinders Lane, and were impressed by the ambience, located in an old bank. This is the younger brother to Akaiito Melbourne, who we were introduced to during the lockdown.
The feature here is Melbourne's largest Pork Katsu Don, featuring a gigantic 300g crispy and juicy pork katsu, on a bed of Akitatomachi rice and egg. If you're feeling hungry this is a great option. The pork was perfectly cooked and super tasty.
We also imbibed their MB9+ Wagyu Don featuring sliced Wagyu, Tobiko, Egg yolk and crispy shallots. Such a high quality dish for the price.
Another highlight was the Chirashi Sashimi Don, with a generous amount of quality sashimi. A vibrant high quality dish.
At just over $20 for these stunning dishes, this represents great value in the Melbourne CBD.
We also ordered Kingfish Sashimi, which was delicate and full of flavour.
Chicken Karaage was the ultimate comfort food.
Prawn Gyozas were also top notch.
We washed our lunch down with only $2 beers! We also indulged in some saké, a perfect accompaniment.
Service was super friendly and engaging.
The atmosphere was impressive, in the underground. Serving Tuesday to Friday from 11.30am to 3pm, OTOTO Melbourne is a revelation.
