New Gaijin Japanese Fusion Brunch

Gaijin Japanese Fusion restaurant in South Yarra is now serving a new exciting fusion brunch from 9am to 2pm on Saturdays and Sundays. We (David and Zoe) went along to experience this stunning new brunch offering (in addition to it's all you can eat Sushi and Sashimi Monday to Friday). Having visited Gaijin in the past we were excited to taste the new fusion dishes for a unique Melbourne brunch experience.

Gaijin are bringing a selection of perfectly blended Japanese flavours with modern brunch classics.

Delicious fusion dishes on the brunch menu that we experienced included -
- Crispy Sizzling Tofu (we loved the fried tofu cubes with a spice nuance and crispy crackers),
- Veggie Soba Roll (we enjoyed green tea soba, fresh fine cut veggies, and tasty dipping sauce of peanut and sesame),
- Crispy Rice Waffles with Salmon is a vibrant dish (we loved the marinated salmon, Japanese sushi rice and the house made sauces of teriyaki and spicy mayo),
- Nasi Goreng with a Twist (our favorite dish featuring the fusion of fried rice served with Karaage chicken, eggs, crispy nori topped with Gaijin special mayo). One of the best Nasi Goreng in Melbourne,
- Affogato with 3 options to choose from including vanilla ice cream, Durian or Cendol ice cream, or seasonal option of Gelato,
- Ube Waffle (we loved the Black Sesame ice cream, strawberry and ube syrup).

All the dishes were vibrant, well-presented and full of flavour. Other dishes on the menu include Smash Avo Delight, Chicken Katsu Curry, Fried Calamari, as well as larger Unagi Mie Goreng, Miso Soft Shell Crab Croissant, Hainanese Chicken Pasta, and Kimchi Sinigang Udon, to name a few. Apart from the Ube Waffle, there are other exciting dessert choices including Ube Pandesal (A Filipino traditional bread roll with ube cheese filling topped with ube syrup) and Halo Halo Roll (Fried Halo Halo spring roll served with red bean ice cream, drizzled with ube syrup).

Gaijin has been at the top of its game for many years, and is an icon on the Melbourne dining scene (we have loved visiting in the past). There are many rave Google reviews and much high praise from Melbourne diners. Many positive comments are also given regarding the friendly and engaging service.

This is a great brunch offering for vegetarians as well as non-vegetarians. It’s vibrant, fun, great value, well-presented, and most importantly, delicious.
