TamJai Mixian Bringing Hong Kong Noodle Royalty To Melbourne
TamJai Mixian is the place to be for noodle enthusiasts, a super popular Hong Kong chain (number one) now in Melbourne. Famous for mouth watering broth and rice noodles, you can “build your own” noodle dish and choose your level of spice. This was a delightful sensory experience on a warm Melbourne day.
Rice noodles (mixian) are wonderfully “al Dente” which is hard to do (as they can break apart) and this enables the noodles to “hold” the rest of the ingredients in the dish.
Tomato-Kissed Wagyu was generous in size and featured melt in your mouth Wagyu, tasty Cuttlefish Balls and Tofu Puffs Mixian in Tangy Tomato Soup. I chose the 1/5 level of heat which was like a mild spice. You can really turn up the heat if you so desire.
Side dishes were also a highlight including TuFei™ Chicken Wingettes - Crispy, juicy and bursting with cumin and spice. As well as Homemade Minced Pork - Rich, savoury and slightly sweet. We tossed it in with Mixian for a unique meaty experience.
Sliced Pork Belly with Mashed Garlic was perfect indulgence. Thinly sliced pork belly with a garlicy, savoury and spicy kick was a personal favourite. Pickled Cabbage with welcome tang was also a hit.
Hong Kong-Style Lemon Tea was refreshing while Hong Kong-Style Milk Tea is a classic.
