Melbourne Walking Whisky Tour Launch
It was an exciting privilege to participate in the Melbourne Walking Whisky Tour launch - Melbourne bar culture at its finest! Our host was icon Greg Sanderson, the Speakeasy Group co-founder and the OG who turned the city’s scene upside down with Eau De Vie.
Dropped on International Whisky Day, this tour—live for everyone from March 26th—hit three of Speakeasy’s eight hotspots, all an easy walk apart. Greg’s line, “the greatest competitor to a bar is Netflix,” highlighted again the need to get off the couch and embrace extraordinary Melbourne experiences (such as this walking tour). Joined by Jesse from Pernod Ricard repping The Glenlivet, we were treated to whisky cocktails that sang with creativity.
Greg imparted captivating history and stories throughout our experience, tour flag in hand. First up: Pearl Diver. Juicy Tasmanian oysters paired with Glenlivet Caribbean Cask—rum-barrel magic—and a miso inspired cocktail that impressed.
Then, Nick and Nora's Melbourne - named after 1930s crime icons—dished XO sourdough crackers with goat cheese, matched with the silky Glenlivet 12-Year-Old in a cozy private corner.
Our final stop had us imbibing Eau De Vie Melbourne, Greg’s “Water of Life” masterpiece. Private room, charcuterie, roasted potatoes, olives, and killer croquettes alongside the lush Glenlivet 15-Year-Old, aged in French oak. I’m still drooling.
This wasn’t just drinks—it was a fun, deep dive into Melbourne’s heartbeat, history, and a party all in one. Self-guide it or roll with a legend like Greg—either way, whisky fans, this is your new obsession. I’m already scheming my next go. Turn off Netflix, get off the couch and raise a glass on the Melbourne Walking Whisky Tour!
