Looking for a premium truffle experience in Melbourne in the winter season? We recently experienced one of the best truffle experiences in Melbourne (if not Australia) and you can too. The famous Truffle Brunch at NOMAD Melbourne is a fabulous celebration of local truffles and is not to be missed.
Why NOMAD Melbourne’s Truffle Brunch Is One of Melbourne’s Best Truffle Experiences

There’s something fitting about descending the stairs into NOMAD Melbourne in winter. Leaving the bustle of Flinders Lane behind, the restaurant’s warm basement dining room wraps around you like a cashmere blanket. Light bounces off wine glasses, the wood-fired kitchen hums away, and every table is occupied by diners seemingly united by one thing: the pursuit of truffle.
Returning for six Sundays only, NOMAD’s annual Truffle Brunch has become one of the city’s most anticipated cold-weather rituals. Head chef Jeremy Swann has built an entire menu around fresh black truffles from Red Hill Truffles on the Mornington Peninsula, and judging by the packed dining room, word is well and truly out.
What was perhaps most striking was the crowd. Rather than an audience of established fine-dining devotees, the room buzzed with younger diners, groups of friends and couples embracing the joy of an extravagant Sunday lunch. Plates were shared, bottles opened and phones inevitably emerged as truffle shavings landed with theatrical flourish.
Winter warm hospitality has rarely felt so inviting.
Fresh Red Hill Truffles Take Centre Stage at NOMAD Melbourne

Plenty of restaurants offer a truffle special at this time of year. NOMAD does something more ambitious. It creates an experience.
Truffle appears throughout the menu, but never in a heavy-handed way. Jeremy Swann understands that truffle is at its most exciting when it plays with texture and richness rather than simply overwhelming a dish.
And nowhere is that philosophy more apparent than in the interplay between truffle and egg. Again and again, the menu returns to the pairing, showcasing why eggs and truffle remain one of the great culinary marriages.
Soft-Boiled Egg and Truffle Soldier Is Decadent Fun

The soft-boiled egg with truffle soldier might be one of the most playful dishes on the menu. There’s something delightfully nostalgic about dipping crisp soldiers into a perfectly cooked egg, but the addition of fresh truffle elevates the experience into something unmistakably luxurious.
It’s rich. It’s decadent. And perhaps most importantly, it’s fun. The earthy perfume of truffle mingling with the silky yolk creates the sort of simple pleasure that reminds you why some combinations have become classics.
Steamed Pacific Oyster with Lardo and Truffle Is a Surprise Highlight

Not every highlight announces itself. The steamed Pacific oyster with lardo, potato and truffle proved one of the unexpected triumphs of the afternoon.
The oyster retained its beautiful briny sweetness, while the richness of the lardo and soft potato provided a luxurious canvas for the truffle. The result was wonderfully balanced, with salinity, fat and earthiness all working together in harmony.
It was one of those dishes that elicited raised eyebrows across the table—a collective acknowledgement that something special had just happened. Unexpected perhaps, but unforgettable.
Scallop and Prawn Manti with Truffle Is Worth Ordering Twice

If there is a signature dish here, the scallop and prawn manti makes a strong case. Delicate dumplings sit in a silky cauliflower velouté, finished with generous shavings of fresh truffle. Sweet seafood, velvety sauce and earthy perfume come together beautifully.
In fact, NOMAD happily offers the option to shave additional truffle over dishes, a temptation that feels almost impossible to resist. After all, this is truffle season. Moderation can wait until spring.
Pumpkin Fritto with Honey, Pecorino and Truffle Delivers Pure Joy

Expectations of pumpkin fritters usually lean towards something dense and substantial. NOMAD’s version is something else entirely.
Light, crisp and thinner than anticipated, the pumpkin fritto arrives with honey and pecorino before receiving its snowy crown of fresh truffle. Sweetness, salt and earthiness dance together beautifully. It’s a dish that somehow manages to feel both comforting and elegant.
And there is undeniable joy in tearing into it.
Culatello and Gorgonzola Flatbread with Truffle Is Rich Decadent Comfort

The culatello and gorgonzola dolce flatbread was impossible to ignore. Golden and blistered from the fire, it delivered everything you’d want from winter indulgence. Salty cured meat, creamy gorgonzola and the unmistakable aroma of truffle combined to create a dish that felt unapologetically rich. This wasn’t restraint. This was pleasure.
And the accompanying wood-fired flatbread dusted with truffle and thyme deserves a mention of its own—simple perhaps, but deeply satisfying and impossible to stop eating.
Wood Oven Baked Beans with Eggs and Truffle Showcase Rustic Brunch Charm

The wood oven baked beans with wild mushrooms, baked eggs and truffle may just encapsulate the entire spirit of the menu. At its heart, it’s a brunch dish. But what a brunch dish.
Smoky beans, earthy mushrooms and gloriously oozy baked eggs create rustic charm in abundance. The runny yolks mingle with the truffle in a way that feels almost primal, reminding diners why eggs and truffle have become one of gastronomy’s most celebrated pairings.
It is comfort food elevated, but never overcomplicated. And perhaps that’s what makes it so successful.
Bacon with Date Molasses and Avocado with Za’atar Celebrate Melbourne Brunch Culture

There’s a sense of playfulness throughout the menu too. The bacon side, glazed with date molasses, was a welcome addition to the feast. Salty, sticky and deeply satisfying, it provided a welcome counterpoint to the truffle.
Meanwhile, the avocado with za’atar felt like a nod to Melbourne’s enduring brunch obsession. Even amid all the luxury and indulgence, the city couldn’t quite let go of its beloved avocado. Nor should it.
Extra Truffle Shavings Make the Experience Even More Luxurious

Perhaps one of the joys of the experience is the freedom to indulge. Additional truffle shavings are available, allowing diners to amplify their favourite dishes even further. And why wouldn’t you?
For six Sundays each year, fresh Mornington Peninsula truffles are celebrated with generosity and enthusiasm. It feels only right to embrace the moment fully. There are no prizes for restraint.
Impeccable Service and Warm Hospitality Define NOMAD Melbourne

As impressive as the food was, the service deserves equal praise. Despite a packed dining room, the team moved effortlessly between tables. Plates arrived with precision, wine glasses remained topped up and recommendations were delivered with genuine warmth.
There was no sense of rushing diners through the experience. Quite the opposite. The atmosphere encouraged lingering.
Conversations stretched across the afternoon, punctuated by laughter and the occasional exclamation as another shaving of truffle landed on a plate nearby. Hospitality, after all, is about making people feel cared for. NOMAD does this beautifully.
Pear Tarte Tatin with Artichoke and Truffle Ice Cream Is a Memorable Finish

By the end of the meal, restraint had long since departed. Which made the decision to order the pear tarte tatin with artichoke and truffle ice cream an easy one. And it proved to be a winner.
The pastry arrived beautifully caramelised, the fruit soft and luscious. But it was the rich ice cream that elevated the dish into something memorable. Creamy, earthy and just savoury enough to intrigue, it brought balance to the sweetness of the tart.
Like much of the menu, it was clever without trying too hard. A fitting finale to a feast that understands the difference between luxury and excess.
Why NOMAD Melbourne Offers One of the Best Truffle Brunches in Melbourne

Melbourne is blessed with no shortage of truffle menus during winter. Yet few feel as complete or as joyous as NOMAD’s Truffle Brunch.
Jeremy Swann’s menu succeeds because it understands that great dining isn’t about showcasing ingredients in isolation. It’s about creating moments. Sharing dishes. Staying longer than intended. Celebrating the season.
The truffle is generous. The cooking is confident. The hospitality impeccable. And as you climb the stairs back onto Flinders Lane, warmed by excellent wine and lingering notes of truffle, it’s hard not to wonder whether this annual ritual has quietly become Melbourne’s greatest celebration of winter dining.
For six Sundays only, NOMAD is serving pure, decadent truffle joy.
