By popular demand, Melbourne's most talked-about winter dining escape isn't going anywhere just yet. Fern's Hidden Winter Garden, the botanical conservatory experience at Fern Bar & Dining inside Hotel Indigo Melbourne Little Collins, has been extended through to Sunday 4 October - with a fresh spring makeover to match the change of season.

The leafy, plant-filled conservatory on level two of the hotel has been consistently booked out since it opened for winter, and rather than let the greenery go, the Fern team is leaning into spring with long garden brunches, a new signature cocktail and a run of indulgent share-style add-ons.

What's on at Fern's Hidden Garden

The experience spans four distinct sessions, so there's a version of the garden for however you want to spend your time in it:

  • Breakfast - an early, easy start among the greenery
  • Brunch - the new hero of the spring line-up, built for lingering
  • Pre-show - a relaxed bite before heading out into the city
  • Dinner - the garden after dark

Sessions start from $50 per person, with bookings open across all four options at fernbaranddining.com/ferns-winter-garden.

Brunch takes the spotlight for spring

As the garden shifts from winter cosy to spring bright, brunch is set to become the main event. Think long, leisurely sittings, cocktails on the table and blue-sky light filtering through the conservatory glass — exactly the kind of slow-morning-into-afternoon session Melbourne does best once the weather turns.

A new signature spring cocktail

Fern's cocktail program, developed in partnership with Little Lon Distillery, is welcoming a new signature drink designed specifically for the season shift - a fitting companion to those long garden brunches as the days start to warm up.

Indulgent add-ons, available every session

Whichever session you book, the garden experience can be dialled up with a run of shareable extras:

  • The Laneway Board
  • Artisan cheese selection
  • Cheese fondue
  • Chocolate fondue

All four add-ons are available across breakfast, brunch, pre-show and dinner sittings.

Why the extension

“Fern's Garden has always been a destination in its own right,” says Rebecca Thorn, General Manager of Hotel Indigo Melbourne Little Collins. She notes that guests have embraced the experience right through winter, and with the space only growing more beautiful heading into spring, extending the run was an easy call for the hotel.
