The Canapes at Stokehouse City were top notch... (As were the wines, including a Henschke white I was enamoured with).

The Awards, recognised as one of the industry’s most prestigious, were presented by some of the nation’s culinary elite including Appetite for Excellence judges David Thompson, Simon Denton and Luke Mangan. Aiming to inspire and encourage the future heavyweights of the hospitality industry, the Awards aim to retain culinary talent in Australia, despite the allure of overseas fine dining and Michelin stars.

The iconic Guy Grossi was also at Stokehouse City as a supporter of Electrolux Appetite for Excellence Awards.

Even Sir Richard Branson had some inspirational words for all, with Virgin being a sponsor.

The night was not lacking in charisma with food identity Cam Smith as MC from @EatItRRR.

AppetiteforExcellence-21

As well as Electrolux outlining their support and sponsorship - they do a marvellous job in fueling the industry. Electrolux carry some sophistication in the culinary world with their appliances and events, and are more than what some people think - not just vacuums and dishwashers.

AppetiteforExcellence-23

A favourite of the Electrolux Appetite for Excellence Awards is Sonia Bandera the Sommelier, last years' winner as Young Waiter. She told us of her travels in Singapore and Europe and the amazing year she's enjoyed since winning the awards.

Simon Denton looking particularly cool (where can I get a tux like that?) also announcing awards...

AppetiteforExcellence-29

Jacob Davey, winner of Young Chef 2013, spoke of his cooking travels in Italy and participating in the San Pellegrino cook off.

The World Loves Melbourne was excited to see George Tomlin from Town Mouse get the Young Chef award (Town Mouse is a personal favourite).

First time judge David Thompson paid tribute to the next generation of culinary stars that made up this year’s Electrolux Appetite for Excellence Awards national finalists as the Electrolux Australian Young Chef, Waiter and Restaurateur of 2014 were announced.

AppetiteforExcellence-40

Another crowd favourite is James Viles from Biota, a winner last year and one of Australia's finest chefs, speaking about his stunning year...
