Table Lamp Restaurant & Bar Bloggers Dinner

Asian fusion in a modern setting? The World Loves Melbourne was part of a fun bloggers dinner at new Table Lamp Restaurant & Bar in the Melbourne CBD, with Head Chef Alex Chin bringing his twist on Asian cuisine. We were joined by Melbourne bloggers The Plus Ones, Gastrology and The Modern Con

Table Lamp Restaurant & Bar was well patronised on this week night before Christmas. While the restaurant caters for all, the crowd here was mostly young. With a chic bar area and modern fit out with Balinese timbers, bird cages, faux vines and sophisticated lighting, it is no wonder.

Table Lamp and Bar boasts 12 original cocktails, and they hit the spot.

The Pumpkin soup with truffles was an excellent dish. The pumpkin was creamy and had a tang, and the truffles were a perfect accompaniment.

The World Loves Melbourne enjoyed this Blue Moon Belgian style ale, difficult to drink just one. It comes in a chilled glass with slice of orange inside - meaning I broke protocol of drinking out of the bottle, to enjoy the sensation in the glass.

Golden Whiskers Scallops was a popular dish at our table with the fragrant mango and jack fruit a great accompaniment to the scallops. This is a dish that comprises an excellent profile of tastes and textures. The cheese on top is also welcomed for this rewarding dish.

Table Lamp Restaurant & Bar has a romantic atmosphere at night, with clever use of lighting and city views...

Cocktails are a hit here with ex Gazi restaurant's Wayan Geard in charge behind the bar...

The Flaming Racks featured roast lamb cutlets with black pepper, rosemary, oregano and butter. The World Loves Melbourne enjoyed the level of spice with the succulent lamb. This dish is peppery hot on the tongue but preserving the nuances of the meat flavours.

The Charcoal grilled massive Tiger Prawns were also a hit with delectable garlic and butter sauce nestled in broccoli.

Check out the modern fit out including birdcages and faux vine.

For dessert we enjoyed Alex Chin's twist on Fried Ice Cream, with mango fruit and raspberry sauce.

Table Lamp Restaurant & Bar also caters for the after drinks crowd with a Skewer Dept serving beef, lamb, King prawn, chicken, salmon, sliced steak rolls, to name a few...

Table Lamp Restaurant & Bar is well worth a visit, with a broad ranging fine menu, modern fit out and engaging service.
