Markets of Melbourne Returns Across 4 Melbourne Markets

 
Markets of Melbourne Market Week which is returning this year from September 5 - 13 across Melbourne's four Markets - Dandenong, Prahran, Queen Victoria and South Melbourne. 
In Market Week's fifth year, Markets of Melbourne are celebrating an inspiring new theme - Shop Well, Eat Well, Live Well. Market Week will comprise of over 50 free events inspiring visitors to live life wholeheartedly, unlock the satisfaction of shopping consciously, love and nourish ourselves through life-affirming movement and wholesome diet and – in the name of true balance – to savour quality edible Market indulgences! 

Celebrating local traders and their produce, here are some of the key events across the Markets:
 
Wellness Festival, South Melbourne Market
Join in the fun at the first South Melbourne Market Wellness Festival. As part of Market Week 2015, they have planned a day full to the brim with activities to encourage living, eating and shopping well. Highlights include; health and wellness tarot readings, herbal tea sampling, free Market tours, Zumba in the market, cooking demonstrations and more.

BBQ Workshops, Queen Victoria Market

Andrew Richardson from BBQ Workshop is all fired up to host two days of free cooking demonstrations in the Meat Hall. Focusing on provenance, healthy eating and traditional barbeque methods he’ll be utilising the freshest Market produce to create recipes you can easily recreate at home. Come down and grill him about his innovative BBQ techniques and tricks of the trade!

Tough Food Challenge, Dandenong Market

 

In celebration of Father’s Day, Dandenong Market are hosting the Tough Food Challenge for market visitors keen to demonstrate their mental and physical prowess. Dandenong Market will be inviting visitors to participate in three rounds – increasing in difficulty at each level. Entrants will compete to see who can be the first to finish - are you tough enough?

Round 1: Lemons

Round 2: Raw onion

Round 3: Hot chillis

Slow Food Demonstration, Prahran Market
 
Visit The Kitchen at Prahran Market this Father’s Day as part of Market Week to chat, learn and see how to feed the family using locally sourced Victorian meat, sustainable seafood and seasonal fruit and vegetables. Drop in, ask questions, taste the difference in an informal setting. Demos will include baking bread, making your own sausages and getting back to the basics with your food.  There will be a new demo every hour, on the hour.

Dogs of the World Morning Tea, South Melbourne Market
 
Dogs of the world reunite for a fun morning of organic snacks and socialising. Bring your pooch along for a delicious treat at South Melbourne Market, and learn about the importance of premium quality pet food to help aid your furry friend’s life span and well-being. A gold coin donation for a local animal charity would be appreciated. The Market will be reposting the best photos on Insta during the morning. Make sure you #southmelbournemarket and #dogsoftheworld.

Scavenger Hunt - Queen Victoria Market
 
Be one of the first 100 people to register to receive a Queen Victoria Market bag and clues to make your way around the Market, filling your bag with items from their iconic stallholders. But beware - this is a trivial challenge and you'll need to use your Market know-how to get evenmore Market surprises. For bonus points, upload photos with your favourite traders along the way to go into the draw to win one of five $50 Market vouchers.

Live Music, Market Square, Prahran Market

 

Sit back and relax with a glass of wine or a coffee, a delicious bite to eat and enjoy your Sunday afternoon with live tunes in Market Square as Prahran Market's regular Jazz Band plays sultry sounds.
