How good was it to play Kingston Heath, a privilege we don't get every day. We began with a plethora of tasty dishes such as Curries, Fried Chicken Wings, and Burgers from top notch food trucks stationed near the Clubhouse. These food trucks were showcasing the food that will be available in the Tournament Village during the event. One of our favourites Babu Ji Express, some of the best Indian food in Melbourne, was serving up impressive dishes. Real Burgers was serving up superb American style food. Genovese coffee was also on hand; and I appreciated one of their strong distinctive style coffees. James Boag Premium and Coldstream Cider were also a welcome refreshment. I need this in my life every time I play golf! The media event was well organised with excellent hospitality all day!
Executive Director, Matt Kamienski flew in from the US making it quite an international affair.
The playing group included several celebrities from the sporting and media world; many of whom can play high level golf!
After a briefing it was game on; with us playing Ambrose rules in groups of four. Having not played for a while I was rusty on the first few holes before starting to come to life and make a reasonable contribution to the team. We finished one under the card with three birdies on the last three holes.
In between shots you can take in the magnificence of the Kingston Heath course.
Back in the Clubhouse after the golf we were further treated to excellent food and beverages for the presentations. I managed to win the social media prize which was also a thrill.
Golf lovers can buy daily tickets for the event and check out the options online. You can also join the World Cup of Golf at Federation Square at 6pm on Tuesday Nov 22 to officially welcome 56 players from across the globe in an hour long celebration in the heart of Melbourne's sporting capital. Get on it!
