DOC Osteria on Lygon St
Aperitivi dreams come alive at DOC Osteria, a refreshed Lygon Street gem from the DOC Gastronomia Group, where a popular espresso bar (congrats on 20 years) has transformed into a glamorous 46-seat osteria, gleaming with marble tops, gold accents, and a stylish courtyard for afternoons and evenings alike.
The new menu strikes a perfect balance between tradition and innovation, offering everything from antipasto and cicchetti to house-made pasta and hearty secondi. And yes, the beloved tiramisu remains firmly on the menu.
Start with the focaccia—80% hydration and a 48-hour fermentation yield perfection, especially when paired with ’nduja & green olive butter. The marinated Sicilian Nocellara olives with orange zest and bay leaf hit all the right notes. A standout was the crocchetta fritto alla Gricia, filled with bucatini, guanciale, and pecorino, followed by a melt-in-your-mouth Rangers Valley black Angus skewer with rosemary.
The DOC Antipasto for two was a generous spread of San Daniele prosciutto, buffalo mozzarella, marinated capsicum, and more—ideal for sharing. The pipe rigate ragu Senese, layered with pork belly, Wagyu chuck, and DOC Deli salsiccia, was rich, complex, and truly unforgettable. The prosciutto and ricotta cappelletti with leek cream were plump, delicate, and undeniably comforting.
For dessert, the tiramisu was a crowd-pleaser, while the DOC Paradiso, with its white chocolate ganache and Galliano Vanilla syrup, was decadence on a plate.
Wine pairings were equally as impressive, with standouts like the 2021 Vermentino Maremma Toscana DOC and Dolcetto D’Alba DOC adding a perfect touch to each course. Amari with dolce selections rounded out the evening beautifully.
