LIFEwithBIRD 2012/13 Resort Collection Celebrates 10 Years
With their Resort 2012/13 collection also marking the 10th anniversary of LIFEwithBIRD, designers Nicholas Van Messner and Bridget McCall decided to look back on their journey to date and the development of the label. This in turn led them to explore the concept of evolution, which formed the resulting direction of the season.
The collection was recently featured in Sydney at The Opera House and features Ruby-Jean Wilson.
Check out Australian nature-inspired prints on cutting edge fabrics. Digital prints derived from cliff faces, sea spray and even Australia’s ghost gum tree round up natural antipodean influences delivered on ultra-modern, high tech fabrics and textured jacquards.
The collections title, The Distance Between, is reference to the simple concept of a starting point and a finishing point. This has been taken into consideration when looking at the design process, the larger idea of evolution and LIFEwithBIRD’s own story; the notion of a journey and a balance between these 2 points. That notion is continued through to the silhouette, presenting the essence of the body through subtle shaping and soft tailoring, simultaneously contrasted with equally outsized shapes.
It is this effortless silhouette combined with considered design details to create timeless pieces that has become LIFEwithBIRD’s calling card over a decade of design innovation.
