Song For the Mute Concept Space
Sydney based fashion brand Song for the Mute celebrates the launch of their immersive concept space. Presented by the Australian Fashion Council to coincide with their latest collection titled 19.2 Hunter. Translating the themes of the collection into specific sensory experiences - through sight, sound, touch and smell - Song for the Mute worked in conjunction with creative collaborators to bring the first installation of its kind to The Rocks, open to the public until 7 October 2019.
Considered the olfactory interpretation of the 19.2 Hunter collection, a limited-edition collaborative scent has been created by Kangaroo Valley wholistic skin care brand Lepaar, wildcrafted using organic and biodynamic ingredients, such as Eucalyptus, Pine and Arnica. A special run of 30 bottles of the scent will be available for sale exclusively at the concept space throughout the 5-week period.
Further collaborators included Hermetica Flowers, the team curated a selection of native Australian flora over an 8-week period specifically for the concept space.
A 40-minute soundtrack, capturing the ambience of the Australian natural landscape, plays through the space as the collection's sonic interpretation created in collaboration with Queensland-based bandLastlings. Brother - sister musicians Amy and Josh Dowdle created the track using field recordings and found sounds from the hinterlands of Southern Queensland.
To celebrate the partnership with AFC and opening of the concept space, exclusive 19.2 Hunter items such as t-shirts, bags and a limited-edition blanket will be unveiled weekly throughout the duration of the space and will only be available to purchase at the concept space.
Artists, creatives, musicians, models and Song for the Mute friends and family assembled at The Rocks for the unveiling of the unique concept space. Song for the Mute designers Melvin Tanaya and Lyna Ty welcomed guests into the space where they were taken through each sensory experience and talked through the inspiration of the space and latest collection.
The crowd were invited next door into heritage whiskey bar The Doss House to enjoy bespoke native inspired whiskey cocktails, charcuterie and cheese boards by the fire.
The Song for the Mute concept space will be open to the public each day from 10AM - 6PM until 7 October 2019.
