He Says She Says - Finery in Camberwell

He Says She Says is a superb restaurant in Camberwell that exudes elegance and finery. Walk into a world of style with its chic decor, spaciousness, timber tables, couches, smart bar, artwork and cool flooring. This culture, fashion and Melbourne food blog attended their fabulous launch...

I was part of a media launch night at this fairly new restaurant (along with my wife) and was glad to be there. We love to see people reach for their dreams. The owners of He Says She Says are professionals who for years dreamed about such a restaurant. To hear the story was a privilege. We were told the team consisted of chemical engineers and financiers. (I suspect every accountant has a dream of owning a restaurant).

Nasser, one of the owners told us the story of the name, which apparently was formed at a meal between the owners in Vue De Monde. A disagreement started between two of the parties. So someone seized the moment suggesting the phrase He Said, She Said. Then it was changed to He Says, She Says. To me the name speaks of lively conversation and conviviality.

He Says She Says has a wonderfully artistic feel. The creative space here has the feel of a gallery as well as a restaurant. Check out the artwork here including on the ceiling.

It struck me that with the pumping crowd at the launch He Says She Says is a great place for a function. Stylish and intimate. The crowd included the owners, food identities and celebrities, professionals and media/food writers. I've since seen some awesome Melbourne food blog action.

The food presented at the launch reflected some of the owners' favourite dishes. The Pork, Pistachio and Foie Gras Terrine is an absolute winner. The Snapper Tartare is also excellent with puffed rice, chive dressing and shaved foie gras. Whoever thought of this flavour combination and texture balance is a genius.

My favourite dish was the Slow cooked lamb with tabouleh, yoghurt and lamb jus. Just couldn't get enough.

Michael Harrison the Head Chef has worked at iconic restaurants including Attica and Syracuse. He brings flair and creativity with Modern Australian influences to the table. At the launch he looked chilled and joyful.

Every top restaurant has an impressive manager and Bernard Bungaleea at he Says, She Says has an impressive CV and stellar international experience.

He Says She Says is an exciting restaurant that is looking to appeal to Camberwell and beyond. A great option for breakfast and brunch as well as for a sophisticated lunch or dinner.
