IDES $65 Sample Table Available Every Thursday Till End of Winter
A sample table at IDES? Yes please! The World Loves Melbourne believes every Melbourne foodie should visit IDES. For us there's a sense of electricity and excitement both behind the creativity and the execution of the dining experience.
Peter Gunn has been running his Sample Tables on the down-low at IDES for some time now, offering just two tables per week and serving up a $65 menu showcasing 4-courses of new, yet to be released dishes.
Following an incredible response to the Sample Table concept IDES will be expanding the offering to the full restaurant every Thursday night for the remainder of the winter months.
Previously only offered to regular patrons, Peter Gunn is now extending the invitation to the wider public.
“It’s gotten to a stage where we’re getting daily enquiries about Sample Tables so we thought why not open it up further and offer it throughout the whole restaurant one night a week,” says Pete.
The Sample Table allows the kitchen the opportunity to present dishes the Ides team have created but as yet haven’t been released on to the main menu.
“We have been open just over a year now and the menu has become more focused. Rather than constantly changing the entire menu as we did when we first opened, we now serve a core menu over a longer period and only add in new dishes when it makes sense to the overall structure,” says Pete. “Sometimes we are 100% happy with a dish but it might not fit with the current set menu. Sample Table is an opportunity for us to offer diners a
preview of these dishes, for regulars to try new stuff and for first timers to have a taste of what we do at a lower price.”
After launching in March 2016, IDES has cemented its place in the Melbourne dining scene while also firmly carving out its individual identity. Gunn’s kitchen is ever-evolving and the IDES menu is complemented by the wine knowledge of Sommelier/Restaurant Manager,
Raffaele Mastrovincenzo and his team. Along with the wine list created by him are two wine pairing options and a non-alcoholic selection of beverages to accompany your menu. IDES Sample Table will be offered every Thursday night till spring 4-courses for $65
