Everyone's A Critic at Cinema Nova for MFWF

Everyone's A Critic event at Cinema Nova was simply epic. Melbourne throws up surprises and we would argue it would be hard to find better food and wine at any Melbourne Food and Wine Festival event. A big call - but when you have one of Melbourne's hottest chefs Andreas Papadakis on fire with pairing of 10 year or more old top Australian wines, it's a match made in heaven.

An alluring menu with top notch Australian wines. All dishes were notable and choosing a winning dish was tough.

G&T to start proceedings...

The meal was an epic 9 course degustation with renowned Chef Andreas Papadakis (Osteria Ilaria and Tipo 00 - Chef of the Year: Time Out Food Awards 2017) who walked the room to discuss each dish. The audience then voted for the best dish which will become part of Cinema Nova new menu.

Roasted heirloom carrots was a crowd favourite (but not the ultimate favourite).

CinemaNova 27

A work of art this was a seriously excellent dish with texture highlights and smoky seafood goodness. Kingfish, smoked eel emulsion, pickled cucumber.

Perfect with outstanding Katnook Odyssey Cabernet Sauvignon 2005.

This was a spectacular wine and food extravaganza.

Highlight of the night and winning dish by voters was the Cacao tortellini, truffle, balsamic. What a dish! Pasta at its best with a sauce you had to just spoon up. Dark rustic tones and a superb rustic dish. There was also Rabbit sausage and veal sweetbreads for a spectacular evening. Served with Punters Corner Reserve Shiraz 2003.

Fig leaf mousse choc top was a delightful nod to all things cinema. This was a night to remember and a highlight of the Melbourne Food and Wine Festival. Andreas is a genius and we look forward to the tortellini in Nova Bar and Kitchen. Well done to all kitchen and wait staff! We say "bravo!"
