One Plus Piece Alcoholic Freak Shakes
One Plus Piece has been serving up some of the craziest and delicious manga inspired creations to Melbourne eastern suburbs since opening in 2016. Now, just in time for the summer months and just like their interiors, they are taking their offering to a whole new level, with their newly acquired liquor license. The World Loves Melbourne was invited along to check out their latest offerings.
Located in Balwyn on Whitehorse Road, One Plus Piece is inspired by the Japanese manga, One Piece, and has taken the idea of colourful anime food and turned it into a reality.
Majictime fairyfloss and coffee cocktail is sensational. Pour into the gold leaf through to the fairy floss! A smoky flavour adds to the cocktail.
We enjoyed the Majictime as an excellent espresso martini with a twist.
Offering a brunch and lunch menu, One Plus Piece has everything from the healthy smoothie bowls, to duck benedict, fried chicken and waffles, to the crazy Gear 3, Gear 4, Luffy’s Favourite and One Piece burgers. We love One Plus Piece for some of the best burgers in Melbourne, as well as some of the best shakes in Melbourne. But also their poke bowls and other dishes are top notch. Plus we always find it fun there.
The XXXsmoke is a top notch cocktail that is also like a dessert. Flame on the marshmallow is stunning. Bourbon taste was wonderful and the cocktail has so many kinds of chocolate we love.
The new liquor menu features a great range of beer, cider, freak shakes and even cocktails for those who want to stay a while. From the Moo Brew Pilsner ($10), Mismatch Brewing Co Session Ale ($10), the Lychee Gold Cider Premium ($10) to the gigantic and delicious freak shakes including the Cookie Monster with an Oreo and Milo milkshake, Irish cream, vanilla vodka, chocolate cookie and syrup ($20) and the Green Samurai with a matcha milkshake, crème de menthe, vodka, red bean paste, strawberries, mochi, pistachio crumble and floss ($20) and the Majictime fairyfloss and coffee cocktail ($13).
I can picture it now - a session with burgers and beer. Or venture into the alcoholic freakshake cocktails!
The highlight of the freak shakes is sure to be the XXXsmoke with a chocolate and strawberry milkshake, bourbon, marshmallow, chocolate cake and rainbow popcorn which is dramatically lit on fire once it arrives at your table which produces a delicious flavour of melted chocolate and bourbon. We watched as the fire was lit - an amazing and playful sense of theatre.
Another newcomer on the menu is the Nutella hot chocolate, which will make the inner child in you jump for joy.
A mug full of Nutella hot chocolate topped with rotating toppings consisting of ice cream cone waffles, Persian fairy floss, jelly beans, sour strip, cookies, popcorn, milo, pocky stick, Swiss swirl this is the perfect answer to that 3pm slump ($16). For brunch, lunch, coffee, or lazy afternoons with a drink in hand, One Plus Piece is sure to be this summer’s next big hit, so get on board now!
Wagyu bowl is also a top notch dish.
Salmon poke bowl is delicious and healthy.
Peking duck fries are a must order.
Moo Brew Pale Ale is a winner to match the dishes at One Plus Piece. You can also dine out in the courtyard out the back or out the front street view, as well as inside. Highly recommended!
