First Look: 1 Oliver St Menu Tasting 2019 at Half Acre
The Birdcage at the Melbourne Cup Racing Carnival is the place to be and 1 Oliver St has stamped it's mark as a destination of style. The World Loves Melbourne was invited along to a sneak peak menu tasting at Half Acre of what racegoers will experience in the 1 Oliver St marquee.
Now firmly a members favourite each Cup Carnival, 1 Oliver St brings to vivid life, the glamorous soirees of yesteryear. Cocktails are top notch including a brandy based cocktail and a gin based cocktail that hit the mark.
Filo tartlet with whipped goats cheese and smoked tomato a fresh and zesty canape.
Potato roesti, creme fraiche, gin cured salmon, dill.
Step inside the fabled entrance of 1 Oliver St and be transported to another world, another time. This is a marquee experience curated for VRC members and 2019 marks the third year of 1 Oliver St.
Roasted pork canape was a standout.
We can attest to the high quality across cocktails and the items of the food and wine menu, from arrivals canapes to lunch canapes, to the hand held items, bowl dishes, desserts and sweet canapes.
Cauliflower, potato and cheddar pie was a smash hit.
Prawn cocktail was one of the best I've ever had with creamy avocado puree, pink grapefruit, lettuce and cocktail sauce.
Manchego croquette, romanesco.
Roasted barramundi was also outstanding featuring a delicious burnt butter hollandaise.
Artistic and sumptuous is the Beef Wellington, mushroom velvet, heirloom carrots, jus.
A crowd pleaser is the Lady Helena Eton Mess, stunningly put together before our eyes.

Sweet canapes featuring Mandarin canele, the Sable Breton with lychee mousse and raspberry dust and my favourite Flourless chocolate cake.
Dessert cigar to finish our meal was a sensation with smoky chocolate nuance.
Having visited the Birdcage for a number of years the offering of 1 Oliver St is one of the best I've ever experienced.
