Bendigo Welcomes Jamie's Ministry of Food Team

The Good Foundation is proud to introduce the Jamie’s Ministry of Food Mobile Kitchen team to the Bendigo community who will be based in Bendigo for the next 10 weeks.

Jamie’s Ministry of Food CEO, Alicia Peardon says some of the team have been recruited from the local Bendigo area.
 
“Jamie’s Ministry of Food is based on a local philosophy whereby it recruits Food Trainers and volunteers from the local area who have existing knowledge and food expertise.”

 

The Jamie’s Ministry of Food Mobile Kitchen team have varying food and community related experience including education roles, teaching and food nutrition.  The team have just completed an intensive training program to bring cooking classes to the people of Bendigo.
 
The team consists of a Mobile Kitchen Manager, Michelle Matush plus Food Trainers, Emma Hannah, Jane Grylls, and Ashley Mariani - each has been appointed for their extensive food knowledge, educational experience and a shared belief and passion in inspiring, educating and empowering the community to make better food choices.  
 
Jamie’s Ministry of Food is part of Healthy Together Bendigo, a community-based initiative helping local Greater Bendigo residents achieve good health where they live, learn, work and play.  As part of this initiative, which is a jointly funded initiative of the State Government of Victoria and the Australian Government , the Mobile Kitchen will visit 11 prevention locations identified by the Victorian Government.
 
Jamie’s Ministry of Food - Food Trainer, Ashley Mariani who lives in Castlemaine says, “I am really proud to be a member of the Mobile Kitchen Team in Bendigo, I know that by sharing our knowledge of food as a team, we will watch participants gain confidence in cooking which will contribute to a positive effect on the long term health of our participants.”

The Mobile Kitchen will reside in Bendigo for 10 weeks, whereby it will be based in central Bendigo for 5weeks before moving to Long Gully for a further five weeks. 
 
“Course bookings have been really strong, which is great to see the community taking up this opportunity. Further courses will be released for the Long Gully location on Monday 21st January and bookings are made through our website,” says Alicia.
The Good Foundation is a not-for-profit organisation who has partnered with Jamie Oliver and The Good Guys to roll out Jamie’s Ministry of Food throughout Australia.
