Cantonese Dining at Yum Sing House
We were invited to experience Cantonese dining at its best at Yum Sing House in the Melbourne CBD. Head Chef Aiven Lee is working wonders in the kitchen with a string of hit dishes. This restaurant has an attractive vibe in celebrating 1960’s Hong Kong, including films projected on the wall.
We (David & Deon) enjoyed a selection of hit dishes -
-Creamy spanner crab croquette (luxe and delicious)
-Truffle Fried Rice (a meal in itself, get the egg on top)
-Honey Soy Sticky Pork Ribs (melt in your mouth must order)
-Mapo Tofu, Fermented Beans, Shiitake & Enoki Mushrooms (a great rendition of this classic dish)
-Roasted Dry Aged Duck Crown (half) with caramelized orange and Superior Soy (excellent quality duck, awesome crispy skin and perfectly “pink” meat)
-Steamed Gai Lan, Ginger Garlic, Oyster Sauce (perfect accompaniment)
-Ma Lai Gou, HK Milk Tea Anglaise, Boba (excellent dessert)
-2019 Dal Zotto Sangiovese (paired perfectly with dishes)
-Yuzual cocktail (came with theatre)
-E1 Negroni cocktail (loved the smoky mezcal hit)
Honestly we were impressed by every dish, with the Duck dish being our favourite with crispy skin and quality tender duck, not to mention the brilliance of the caramelized orange, and depth of flavor in the superior soy sauce.
Service here is exceptional with engaging attentive staff and we also engaged with one of the hospitable owners.
Yum Sing House has become a Melbourne favourite and also offers karaoke for you to display your inner rock star with friends.
