QV Melbourne welcomes summer nights with its outdoor cinema

The World Loves Melbourne was invited to a fabulous evening at the summer launch of QV Outdoor Cinema. We were treated to Schnitz cuisine and Movenpick ice cream as we enjoyed The Devil Wears Prada on the big screen. Dinner was delivered to our deck chairs!

If mainstream blockbusters and lounging outside is your thing, QV Melbourne’s Outdoor cinema is something to add to your to-do list this summer.

Located at the corner of Lonsdale and Swanson Street, Melbourne’s beloved laneway style precinct, QV Melbourne, has turned its second level outdoor square into a summer cinema Thursday through Sunday nights until February 2016.

The open courtyard will be sprawling with deck chairs across the astro turf  and for only $12, viewers can sit back, pop on a headset and enjoy a blockbuster film all while taking in the night air in the heart of the CBD. QV Melbourne has you covered for munchies from grabbing a schnitzel from Schnitz, getting a few scoops of ice cream from Movenpick or a dark hot chocolate from Max Brenner.

This season’s movie line-up curated by Melbourne filmmaker and film programmer, Gus Berger, features Aussie flicks around Australia Day, 80s favourites and a focus on Melbourne Independent films in February.

The December Christmas season line-up will get you into the festive spirit with some holiday favourites including Tim Burton’s The Nightmare before Christmas, Home Alone, Bad Santa and Will Farrell’s Elf.

Before each film, guests can look forward to pre-film entertainment and live performances. This includes an introductory performance by the Australian Shakespeare Company to kick off Baz Lurhrman’s Romeo + Juliet on 10 December and moviegoers are welcome to bring their dogs and enter in the Best Dressed Dog competition on 12 December during the fundraiser screening of Best in Show.

Aussie summer evenings are perfect for open-air movie nights! Bookings and full program are available at qvcinema.com.au
