bassike Opens in Hawksburn

Australian fashion label, bassike, is excited to announce the opening of their first Melbourne store with bassike Hawksburn, which opened Saturday September 1st. I had the privilege of attending the launch, drinking Veuve and checking out the individual pieces.

“Bringing bassike to Melbourne has been a really exciting goal for us to work towards - it’s a wonderful milestone for the business”, says Deborah Sams. Mary Lou Ryan adds “…and as Melbourne is my hometown, it feels like a very natural step for the business to take.”

For the very first time since bassike’s inception, Melbourne is now presented with the complete bassike collection – including leather, tailoring, ready-to-wear, organic cotton jersey, bassike eyewear and bassike’s premium line of Japanese denim - available exclusively at bassike stores. In addition, bassike Hawksburn carries a selection of premium international labels including Repetto, Giorgio Brato, Maiami Basic, Petite Grand, and eyewear from Dries Van Noten, Linda Farrow and The Row.

This is one chic fashion house in an amzing fashion precinct.

Designed by architect Kelvin Ho, bassike Hawksburn consumes the entire ground floor of an oversized block that corners Malvern & Mathoura Roads. The space has been designed in a way that it can adapt to seasonal collections, installations and events.

“To maximize the adaptability of the space, we’ve kept permanent fixtures to a minimum which are anchored by a louvered wall that conceals fitting rooms, but also acts as a centerpiece for the store – the louvered wall is also an element that echoes bassike’s Sydney boutiques. It’s important to maintain a common thread across the different bassike stores to create a sense of familiarity and cohesion.” explains Kelvin Ho of Akin Creative.

Bassike’s flagship store in Hawksburn is now open.
