Opera and Fashion Alive in Prahran
The City of Stonnington is finalising preparations for the operatic highlight of the summer events season, as award-winning soprano Michelle Buscemi received her final fitting from leading couture designer, Linda Britten...
Linda is generously loaning three exquisite gowns for the upcoming Opera in the Park concert in Victoria Gardens on 2 February.
The gowns are made of silk and tulle, painstakingly beaded with glittering crystals and beads – in a preview of Linda’s 2013 ‘Arts Decoratifs’ collection, inspired by the Art Deco movement.
Opera in the Park this year features highlights from La traviata by Giuseppe Verdi, including some of the most beautiful and recognisable music ever written.
Thousands of people flock to Opera in the Park each year, making it one of the highlights of the packed summer events program in Stonnington.
Artistic Director Cameron Menzies (Bayreuth Opera Award 2008, Besen Family Artist Program 2010, Berlin New Music Opera Award 2011), has once again brought together an extraordinary array of operatic artists. The star-studded cast includes Dimity Shepherd, Michael Lapina and Tim Patston, along with singers from The Opera Studio Melbourne. Conducted by Trevor Jones.
