Belleville Nose to Tail; Pork and Ale Event for Good Food Month

BELLEVILLE is an alluring bar, restaurant and entertainment venue in the heart of Chinatown in Globe Alley Melbourne, part of the formidable venue stable of Office of Public Works (Section 8, Ferdydurke, Belleville and B.East). The group is doing great things with BELLEVILLE one of the launches of the year and B.East rated in the top burgers in the land.

BELLEVILLE is a decontructed looking bar/restaurant/live venue with a look that resembles it's other venues (unmistakable). Just before the official opening, the creatives of BELLEVILLE decided to put holes in the wall for an even greater distressed look. It works.

The World Loves Melbourne has attended (and still is) a number of Good Food Month events, and the thought of a pork and matching beer event couldn't be ignored.

As part of The Age’s ‘GOOD FOOD MONTH’, Belleville took a special moment to celebrate the best things in life: bacon, booze, and bacon (did we mention that earlier?).

BELLEVILLE’s executive chefs carved up one whole swine for the event - and translated it into a five course menu. Each course was matched with matching beer from Mornington Peninsula Breweries. Executive chef at Office of Public Works, Jarrod Moore (Cirque De Soliel, Southpaw & The B.East) and former Trunk Head Chef Sailesh ‘Slash’ Vala left no swine unturned - carving up all dishes from the one pig. From Sticky Pork Hock Donuts, Pork Crackling to Maple Bacon dessert- each course featured a curiously different spin on pork as you know it.

The World Loves Melbourne considers BELLEVILLE to be a compelling destination with its fab location, approacheable savvy food offerings, engaging service and damn good beer.

Quirky light fittings, a large mural, and shabby chic furniture gave the event a relaxed and chic vibe. We learned from the event that BELLEVILLE is a great place to catch up with friends, that they take their beer and food seriously with innovation, and that they plan to do more creative events. And we learned that David is an exceptional front of house.

Mornington Peninsula Breweries was featured at the event. Promotion was low key with no speeches, the food and beer did the talking.

Pulled Wasabi Pork Bao with Caramelised Nashi Sauce and Pickled Raddish paired with Kellybrook Champagne Cider - great bao (BELLEVILLE specialises in Asian flavours) and the Kellybrook Champagne Cider is a showstopper (love the dry style).

Ménage au Swine: Pressed Head, Cheek Croquette, Bacon Dashi paired with Mornington Lager - stellar dish with so much going on. Bacon dashi was served separately as so much food on the table.

Sticky Pork Hock, Mandarin Chilli Caramel & Red Papaya Salad paired with Mornington Rust Bucket Red Ale - a highlight we vote this stays on the menu! Up with the best pork dishes in Melbourne.

Chilli Lime Crispy Pigs Ears, Dehydrated Pineapple paired with Mornington IPA - comfort food with fine beer...

Maple Bacon Ice Cream Cone, Bacon Praline, Candy Apple paired with Kellybrook Apple Brandy... OMG! We also vote this stays on the menu! Decadent but oh the pairing! Worth driving across town for!

Thanks BELLEVILLE for a stunning night!
