The World Loves Melbourne was invited to the launch of Toorak's new watering hole: 505 Wine Room. Located on the corner of Williams and Malvern Roads, 505 Wine Room is a relaxed yet sophisticated space offering local and international wines paired with exquisitely designed food.
How about a 15 page wine list of Australian and International wines? Wine enthusiast? Enjoy top notch wine in an elegant upmarket venue? What sets this place apart is the detail taken to ensure guests are drinking a wine that is perfectly suited for their tastes. Boasting with more than 200 wines on the menu, 505 Wine Room goes a step further by having specialised Sommeliers on hand to provide guidance on wine varieties and the seasonal menu maps out which wine pairs best with each dish. The pressure is off the guests and leaves it in the hands the experts.
The menu is based on seasonal changes and the size of the plates makes it perfect to share with friends. You’ll find signature dishes including tuna Ceviche, local Snapper with zucchini, fregola, peas and pine nuts, and violet honeycomb crumble with chocolate aero and violet ice cream. We were able to have a sample of some of these dishes at the opening which included the Szechuan 5 spice calamari, lamb cutlet with mint and apple jelly and pork belly sliders.
The décor within 505 Wine Room has been carefully considered. Ricky Smith, a specialist designer of luxury interiors and super yacht interior design, designed the well-appointed space. With exposed industrial beams and towering bespoke steel work and oak joinery portals, the main bar downstairs offers ultimate flexibility for diners to choose from including casual high tops or café style tables. The plush and decadent cocktail lounge is decorated with contemporary with sparkling stainless steel mesh juxtaposing a muted metallic palette of pearl, zinc, copper, aqua and indigo.
