Rustica Canteen in Hawthorn A Compelling Brunch Destination
Rustica Sourdough which began in Brunswick several years ago has been expanding, as one of the most successful bakery cafes in Melbourne. We have followed their journey since the start and from day one they have resonated with quality bakery offerings. The World Loves Melbourne was part of an UberEATS event where we met more of the UberEATS family. Obviously UberEATS is on the rise and the preferred delivery service for many people in Melbourne.
Rustica Canteen in Hawthorn is located at the bottom of a modern building, and is light and airy with large windows and great use of timber and plants. UberEATS went the extra mile for our event with the table setting flowers and the generous gift bags.
Rustica are known for their baked goods but also serve up a cracking brunch and lunch menu, with a string of hits! They take advantage of their superior sourdough for several of the dishes.
We received a top notch goodies bag from UberEATS - their events are enviable!
Smashed avocado, pickled red onion, beetroot relish, Persian feta, ground Chulpi corn, and poached eggs with sourdough, with a side of bacon. What a great dish! The eggs were cooked perfectly, wonderfully oozy, and the avocado was fresh and creamy. The beetroot relish was a pleasant surprise and delightful accompaniment. Chunks of Persian feta gave extra depth. Bacon was cooked perfectly on the crispy side without being overdone. Sourdough was of course a standout.
The table decor was first class including these flowers by @hipetalmelbourne a stunning curated petal arrangement.
Get your benedict on.
I chose a bacon side for the Smashed avo but the salmon looked alluring.
Whole roasted mushrooms, mixed greens, reggiano cheese, poached eggs, white truffle oil, and kale and walnut pesto with olive and basil sourdough. What a texture and flavour profile! Presentation at Rustica is also first class! Love the touch of the reggiano cheese.
In fact the Mushroom dish was a universal favourite at Rustica... Side by side.
We engaged in a hilarious and informative Trivia quiz. UberEATS is in 6 Australian cities and I discovered that Melbourne is a strong global performer for UberEATS. Not surprising as Melbourne is a serious global culinary city.
Light and airy and a buzz. Clearly this is also a hub for locals.
Top bloggers in Melbourne are keen for UberEATS and the brunch scene.
A fabulous event.
Melbourne has taken to UberEATS as the leading delivery company.
Here I am in social media mode... Note my MJ Bale jacket, Sportscraft Chinos and classic Tissot watch.
The bread will inspire you. Some of the best bread in Melbourne, not to mention the pastries aka cronuts, nutella croissants and the like!
Thanks to Rustica Canteen and UberEATS for a superb brunch and catch up.
