Best Takeaway Dining in Melbourne in these Challenging Times
Melbourne restaurants are getting ready to re-open but we have experienced amazing takeaway dishes from a number of restaurants during challenging times. While we are excited about the re-openings we hope many Melbourne restaurants still offer takeaway options as it's proved to be a hit. Here are a few of our favourites -
Opus Dining (Balwyn)
We were to check out the new takeaway Menu at Opus Dining in Balwyn. A restaurant that we have enjoyed in the past, provided a pickup meal for us to experience.
Fried Lamb Ribs were a sensation when we previously visited for dinner, and are now a melt in your mouth takeaway dish.
Fish and chips with homemade tartare sauce was also top notch. Highly recommend also were the premium rice bowls - Pork Belly, Wagyu Beef (my favourite) and Chicken Karaage featuring quality ingredients.
Homemade Tiramisu is magnificent and comes in a tub for 3. A tasty delight was the Homemade Swiss Roll with chantilly cream. The menu is ever evolving.

Cecconi's (CBD)
Awesome family fine dining meal from Italian icon Cecconi's in Fliners Lane, who delivered a sample of their takeaway menu.
A restaurant that we have visited many times over the years.
Top notch Antipasti including arancini, Prawn risotto, Agnolotti del plin, Broccoli Gratinati and Soft centred chocolate pudding dessert. The 4 of us loved it all. Along with exceptional Negroni. You can order from Cecconi’s menu online.
Tutto Bene (CBD)
Tutto Bene has a fine reputation for its Italian cuisine, and notably it's risottos. We've experienced their fine risottos in the past sitting in the restaurant and watching the world go by along the Southbank promenade. At this time we were excited to be sent their takeaway risotto promotion.
The risotto-master’s have just launched their exciting new ‘Risotto Roulette’ delivery service, which takes the hassle out of decision-making at dinner time by showcasing one-of-four of the restaurant’s favourite risotto styles randomly –:
- Funghi misti – mushroom
- Grancho – crab
- Capesante – scallop and truffle
- Salcice – pork and fennel sausage
We were invited to pull the trigger first on this exhilarating new home delivery offering, which included a delicious 500ml tub of the eatery’s award-winning gelato! We were able to choose up to two flavours from the list below:

Rochford Wines (Yarra Valley)
Rochford Wines has launched out with take away options. We were thrilled to receive a Mother's Day Lunch Hamper but they are also offering takeaway and delivery of delicious pizza, pasta, share meals and more. Plus they have a shop at Rochford Grocer.
QueYou BBQ (Port Melbourne)
Still salivating over epic BBQ pack featuring delicious beef ribs, pork ribs, chicken, bottle Queyou sauce, 4 x corn bread pieces, 3 x oink balls, and 3x candy bacon.
Melt in your mouth bbq at great value delivered to your home! We were sent some bbq meals from @queyoubbq and we are raving!

Elizabeth Andrews Catering (Melbourne)
Dinner was supplied by @elizabethandrews catering featuring a fresh Sushi pack, some fresh Salads (a Chicken larb salad and a Thai beef salad) along with a Gnocchi pack and a Vegan tagine pack. As well as delicious choc raspberry puddings which are also vegan. Everything was top notch and is keenly priced. My favourites were the exceptional salads and fresh sushi.
@elizabethandrews.catering are a Melbourne-based corporate catering company that has turned to home-delivery service as a result of the Coronavirus outbreak. They’ve been around for over 20 years and employee around 60 staff; most of whom they’ve been able to keep employed during this crisis however unfortunately that won’t be sustainable long-term unless they can continue to grow their home-delivery service.
