Serai Filipino Restaurant launches in Melbourne
Ross Magnaye the mercurial rock star Filipino chef has launched fuel-fired Serai in Melbourne (near Hardware Lane), a celebration of Filipino cooking and fine food.
Serai oozes class albeit its a casual place to explore new tastes and for meet ups, business launches and date nights.
Ross Magnaye (ex Rice Paper Sister) captivates the imagination as well as the palate with dishes such as Gippsland ribs, sticky "adobo sauce", Port Lincoln calamari, smoked longanissa nduja dressing, as well as Bistek wagyu beef, delicious Patotim aged Milawa duck, calamari jam, bone sauce, as well as Filipino famous Lechon (roast suckling pig) western plains free-range pork belly, smoky pineapple palapa.
Apart from the Wood Fired menu and the Large Plates, the Snack Bar and Crispy things menus also excite. You can graze with a glass of wine, or go "big".
Surely one of the hottest launches of the year, Serai also shines with its cocktail list (with Filipino themes) and natural wines.
