Staycation Mövenpick Melbourne and Miss Mi
For those looking for a luxe hotel staycation in the Melbourne CBD, Australia’s second-ever Mövenpick Hotel is the perfect tonic, and we enjoyed a stunning stay featuring a magnificent suite, world class dining at Miss Mi, and an epic chocolate fix. Located in the heart of Melbourne, across the road from Southern Cross Station,
Enter through the foyer of the 78-storey Premier Tower development, where engaging staff are keen to please. We were welcomed with a chocolate feast and a bottle of wine on ice in our suite - the perfect start. Wow factor. The reception area adjoins an appealing cafe serving Mövenpick signature ice cream and hosts a daily chocolate hour (which we would have visited if not for the epic chocolate feast in our room).
We were struck by world class local art at every turn. The hotel hallways and each room feature works from local photographers, notably Steve Scalone and Sean McDonald, and brings such a great vibe. Funky decor, with marbled black and white floors and sexy couches adds to the ambience.
Our suite was suitably spacious and well-appointed, adorned with art, a desirable lounge area, massive flat-screen TV, a massive bath tub and huge bathroom, and much more. Truly epic. Functional and stylish, with a splash of fun. Perfect for special occasions, as well as for those who want a vibrant experience different to the norm. I felt that Mövenpick Hotel pays attention to the "little touches" to enhance your stay.
We checked out the impressive 25-metre heated swimming pool, sauna and gym. Our visit to the pool was in fact after dinner and we were pleasantly surprised to learn that the pool stays open until 10pm!
A highlight was dinner at Miss Mi restaurant and bar, which featured well-executed and imaginative dishes that took us on an exciting journey through Asia.
Highly impressive dishes excited the palate with bold flavours, including Borneo Boar Sausage, Fried Chicken Ribs in Nuoc Mam, Mapu Tofu special with bone marrow and prawn, Timorese Barramundi, Crispy Pork Belly, Seasonal Wok Fried Vegetables, washed down with @deedsbrewing XPA. Exotic dishes and fabulous quality ingredients.
We enjoyed excellent service and a great vibe in this spacious and visually appealing restaurant. It looked to us like city workers and some of the footy crowd were there imbibing on a Friday night. The place to be after work.
We were thrilled to return to Miss Mi in the morning for breakfast, savouring every bite of the extensive buffet on offer.
This was a funky, fun and fabulous stay in a luxe hotel with loads of features, located in a convenient part of the Melbourne CBD. Highly recommended and surely one of the best hotels in Melbourne.
