Dinner at Il Caminetto - Awarded Top 10 Pizza Australia
Il Caminetto in Moonee Ponds was recently awarded top 50 pizza in Asia-Pacific by @50toppizza and top 10 in Australia), and we were invited along to experience this world class pizza (and standout pasta). The pizza here is a revelation with extraordinary dough, quality ingredients and flavor combinations, char on the crust, and generous. Is there any better pizza in Melbourne?
Negroni was on point.
The pasta dishes are also top notch and you understand that Il Caminetto is more than (just) a pizza restaurant, it shines in all areas. 
A modern restaurant with a rustic feel, and you notice the large pizza oven when you walk in. 
We then ordered-
Slow cooked pork belly (cooked to perfection with crackle crust)CANNOLO DI ZUCCHINE STUZZICHINI E ANTIPASTI - Rolled marinated zucchine filled with goat's cheese mousse, olive's dust, crunchy taralli on tomato coulis (displayed great technique, taste and texture)RAVIOLI DEL PLIN ALLA GUANCIA DI BUE PASTE -️ Home made ravioli filled with Ox cheek, served with saffron sauce and truffle oil (a rich luxe dish that hit the high notes with next level saffron sauce)INSALATA DI RUCOLA E RADICCHIO CONTORNI E INSALATE - Roquette and radicchio salad, shaved parmesan and balsamic dressing. (A vibrant zesty salad) PIEMONTESE PIZZE - Mozzarella, sausage, 'nduja, mixed mushrooms and truffle oil (pizza to rave about with nuance of spice.)LIGURE PIZZE - Mozzarella, prawns, 'nduja, roasted cherry tomatoes, roasted zucchine and bread crumbs (the crumbs set this pizza off)
The dough of the pizza was a revelation. A case of fermentation and “Let it rest”, using premium 00 flour. All in all, quality ingredients, amazing dough, and perfectly cooked in the large pizza oven by a legit Pizzaiolo. VEGAN TIRAMISU DESSERT - Vegan biscuits, coffee and vegan cream (outstanding creamy Tiramisu with coffee hit).
We went into satiation overdrive after this epic meal. Service here is engaging and on point. True hospitality. (We are also excited to soon visit their popular sister restaurant Shop 225).
Il Caminetto is more than “honest Italian”. This is elevated.
