Bottomless Brunch at Bomba Bar Celebrating Their 10th Anniversary
Bomba Bar, the Spanish restaurant and bar by chefs Jesse Gerner and Andrew Fisk, and manager Kelly O’Loghlen, hit double figures in September, not a small feat in the restaurant world. We were invited to join in the celebrations, with a range of exciting offerings for the public.
Celebrations include a nostalgic lunch of dishes from the original menu and, for the first time, the chance to dine on the Bomba Bar rooftop. We were invited along to experience a fabulous Bottomless Brunch.
“We are always inundated with people looking for a long lunch on the Rooftop Bar. Something we logistically haven’t been able to offer. As a thanks for ten years of loyal support we’ve worked on a special menu for Spring only. Cheers Melbourne!” says O’Loghlen.
Bottomless lunches on the Bomba rooftop are available from September through to November. Book for two-hours and enjoy a menu that includes: Manchego cheese and membrillo croquette; Charcoal-grilled pork belly, almond romesco, spring onion and chicharrones, and Braised beef with oloroso, peppers and cauliflower, along with Gem lettuce, apple, walnuts and buttermilk. All supported by a list of savvy cocktails such as Red Sangria, the Bomba Bellini (Strawberry, Agave and Cava), and Mimosa.
All dishes impressed, in being a selection of greatest hits, several of which we have enjoyed over the years. Bomba Bar brings the best of Spain to Melbourne.
Beverage selection also includes Bomba Lager beer, as well as wines such as from Victoria and Spain.
There’s also the opportunity to reminisce with dishes from the original menu served on October 1. Over two lunch sittings, hark back a decade and savour charcoal-grilled corn with paprika and cumin, alongside quail with pistachio and buckwheat and the Pedro Ximenez-braised pork jowl with celeriac that opened Bomba with a bang!
‘We are so grateful and humbled to be celebrating such a significant milestone. It’s been an amazing decade, we’ve achieved so much in that time as a business and also in our lives outside of Bomba,” says Jesse Gerner. “There have definitely been some tough days, no more so than the last two-and-a-half years, but to see the place still full regularly and looked after by the best team in Melbourne always brings a smile to my face. We look forward to the next ten!”
It was 2013 when the decision was made to close The Aylesbury – the nose-to-tail dining room the team had opened in 2011 – and turn it into Bomba, the buzzing, vibrant tapas bar it remains.
The rooftop bar was renovated in 2018 and after steering the business through the last few years of the pandemic, they want to signal the significance of the last decade.
