La Spaghettata - Bringing the A Game for 30 Years

La Spaghettata has been bringing the A game to Italian cuisine on Lygon Street for 30 years.
One needs to respect the longetivity of quality and the fact this restaurant attracts regulars who come for 10,15 and even 25 years. People often ask me where it's good to eat on Lygon Street. La Spaghettata is surely one of the best.
This is not just another Italian restaurant but an authentic Italian experience as reflected in the traditional ingredients and the recipes that go back generations. I ordered the Amatriciana and found out it was a recipe that has been part of the Cattafi family for years. It was a delightful cacophony of flavours featuring smoky bacon and an incredible tomato sauce with onion. The portion was large but it was quality all the way.

The pasta at La Spaghettata is of great reputation. A highlight is the shared Pasta Platter for two. Or go with the Veal or Chicken or Quail. Or the Steak. Another highlight is the Spaghetti Marinara and La Sphaghettata have an impressive reputation for seafood. There's an extensive menu with consistent quality across all offerings.

The fit out is rustic with old photos on the walls evoking memories. You will find plates and wine and various artifacts mounted along the walls. La Spaghettata is full of character. It's a place you can unwind and relax. A taste of Italy. For me a highlight is the crooner Italian classics playing over the speakers.

You are struck throughout by the elegance and charm, attentive service and the family hospitality. I enjoyed conversation with Fabio. He likes to engage the customers and acknowledges the regulars. The patriach behind it all is Tony Cattafi.

For dessert I enjoyed the Cannoli Della Nonna. This came as a huge serving with great shells, loads of chocolate and custard and a side of ice cream and strawberry. Thoroughly pleasing and a touch decadent. I also had an eye out for the Profiteroles and the Tiramisu.

Coffee here is also excellent with my long macchiato a treat.

Customers can choose from a dining experience inside the restaurant (also upstairs area) or dine in the portico with a hanging garden. Or you may prefer pavement dining next to charming Lygon Street.

La Spaghettata is great for group functions with the ability to put together large tables. Or come here for that romantic interlude. There's a great rustic ambience which is enhanced by exposed brick and timber, and the lamps along the walls.

La Spaghettata has kept its passion over the years and continues to bring a first class dining experience on Lygon Street.
