The World Loves Melbourne wandered into Smith Street Alimentari one lazy lunchtime and was struck by the high ceilings, exposed brick and iconic retro artwork on the walls. Chick bar and kitchen areas with a bevvy of staff also draws attention. This is an attractive restaurant, even artistic. The word "alimentari" means "good food and camaraderie", an apt description for this venue.

Smith Street Alimentari offers a rustic and rewarding menu. The World Loves Melbourne couldn't go past the Slow cooked lamb with hummus and tabouli, the pick of the menu according to my waitress.
The lamb is to be raved about with Smith Street Alimentari boasting a rotisserie for perfectly cooked meat. Tender succulent lamb with a tasty hummus and fresh tabouli was an outstanding, somewhat Middle Eastern lunch.
Hargreaves Ale was the perfect beverage to wash down the lamb.
