Woody P Opens in Flinders Lane

Melbourne loves its Mediterranean cuisine and vibe and The World Loves Melbourne was priviledged to be invited to the launch of Woody P in Flinders Lane. Think Salumi and pizza and Mediterranean savvy as you enter a slice of Italy on Flinders St. The design is chic with a dose of raw, stripped back and full of character like a Sangiovese.

Flinders Lane is notorious for being home to some of the best culinary gems in Melbourne so high-expectations were on Woody P to bring a unique and distinct identity that would stand out from the competition.

Split over two levels, the interior is fresh and modern with a touch of class. The timber floors, exposed brick, and textured stained glass walls created an atmosphere that in inviting for those eating lunch, dinner and even those night-owls wanting to graze late in the evening. The bottom level, set to open later this year, is set to have another bar and courtyard area with lanterns and bluestone floors.

With boards of sumptuous food on offer, the mood was upbeat and convivial.

Randie and Donna from The World Loves Melbourne attended this superb launch imbibing the delights of Woody P.

The well-designed interior was backed up by the food which was the real highlight of the evening. The Mediterranean-Italian inspired cuisine created up by renowned chef Clinton Camilleri did not disappoint as his team served up a perfect snapshot of the menuThe open kitchen invited guests to watch the preparations of some of the signature dishes including beautifully-presented seared scallops with pomegranate in sea shells, and the Patatina and Porcheta pizzas combined the flavours of potato and rosemary, and slow-roasted pork and apple respectively.

The rest of the menu looks just as appealing. The list includes rabbit sausage, heirloom carrot, mustard and pistachio; spinach and ricotta gnudi, tomato sugo, and ricotta salata; and kingfsh crudo, beetroot, mandarin and horseradish. The deserts are equally as tempting with buffalo ricotta doughnuts and alba whisky fried custard as some of the treats to choose from.

The chefs from Woody P were busy all night, here preparing the Seared scallops with ndjuda, pumpkin and pomegranate.
