The World Loves Melbourne attended the launch of the 2015 Night Noodle Markets in the stylish Mercedes-Benz Temporium. We are excited that Night Noodle Markets are back!

From November 12-29, Birrarung Marr is again transformed into a sprawling Asian hawker food market as the 2015 Night Noodle Markets return for The Age Good Food Month, presented by Citi.With a record number of 57 stalls offering everything from the best local and interstate Indian, Vietnamese, Malaysian, Chinese, Japanese and Thai vendors, this year’s Night Noodle Markets offers something for everyone.

International culinary stars have joined the line-up, including Diego Muñoz Head Chef of the #14 Best Restaurant in the World*, Astrid y Gastón in Lima Peru, and one of Latin America’s best restaurants, La Barra who will be serving up Peruvian Japanese delights at a Lady Carolina pop up. For one night only on November 27, New York’s famed ice cream duo Big Gay Ice Cream will be popping up with local favourite Gelato Messina to sell a very special Big Gay Ice Cream inspired treat, with the first 20 lucky customers getting theirs for free.

Must-try highlights of the amazing local and interstate stalls offering delicious goods include Chin Chin’s pork sliders, Din Tai Fung’s dumplings, Red Spice Road’s Pork Belly (Good Food Guide People’s Choice Award winner), Hoy Pinoy’s lechon baboy roasted pig, Ladyboy Dining’s meal worm (the first time for insects on the menu), Mr. Miyagi’s nori taco, Baotime’s chilli crab burger, Rice n Dice’s all vegan menu items. New for 2015 is Delhi Street’s Pani Puri (Good Food Guide Best Cheap Eats), just to name a few. This will also be your first chance to try the food from Chin Chin’s new sister venue Hawker Hall with their rendang curry – the hottest dish on the menu.

In a first for Melbourne’s Night Noodle Markets, the famous Black Star Pastry which has made waves in Sydney is coming to Victoria for an exciting collaboration with N2 Extreme Gelato offering decadent and delicious desserts including The Cake Smash – Black Star’s famous strawberry watermelon cake, beaten, whipped and flash frozen into gelato.

With the markets as one of the city’s most popular events, this year’s sponsors have been sure to provide some stand-out activations for visitors to engage with. 

The Citi VIP area will once again offer a private bar and concierge service from Citibank Dining Partner’s Burwood Teppanyaki and Daniel San exclusively for Citibank customers. The Cathay Pacific seating area offers the perfect spot to soak up the markets and The Temporium by Mercedes-Benz is back with a new mezzanine level from where you can enjoy 360 degree views across the markets on the middle terrace.

For those looking to accompany their meal with something delicious to drink, visit the beautiful Schweppes Floating Market, Coopers Beer Garden, Yalumba Festival Garden, Thatchers Cider Garden, or The Singleton Whisky & Sugar Bar and for your music fix, The Harvey Norman Fit Zone is complete with a DJ.

As the official charity partner for Melbourne Good Food Month, FareShare will be at the Night Noodle Markets with their Fortune Cart, collecting spare change and donations from market-goers in exchange for a fortune cookie, with all proceeds going to providing meals for Victorians doing it tough.

In another exciting promotion, for the first time ever The Age and Good Food are presenting the Top Chopsticks at the Night Noodle Markets. Whether you are a dedicated ramen fan or can't get enough fried chicken, event goers can vote for their favourite stallholder for the chance to win a $250 dining experience every month for one year. The Night Noodle Markets at Birrarung Marr will run from November 12-29, open from 5pm on weekdays, from 2pm weekends and entry is free. There are three entry points for easy access, two via Batman Avenue and one via Flinders Street, Federation Square. To make things quick and easy this year, food and beverage purchases are now able to be made at all stalls and bars via card.

Good Food Month goers are encouraged to #jointhefeast on social media by posting photos on Instagram of their incredible feasts. This may include a night at the markets, a baking extravaganza, a dinner party at home, a Good Food Month event or anything in between. Five winning photos shared using the #jointhefeast hashtag will be picked by the Good Food Month team with the winners taking home double passes to a Melbourne Good Food Month event*.
