RICE PAPER SCISSORS GETS EXTRA SPICY FOR MELBOURNE FOOD AND WINE FESTIVAL
What would it look like if SouthEast Asian restaurant, Rice Paper Scissors, took on the flavours and textures of Mexican cuisine? The popular venue - with sites in the CBD and Fitzroy - decided to find out. We were invited along and we concluded that this fun transition from SouthEast Asian to Mexican cuisine for a limited time, was both seamless and delicious!
For the duration of the Melbourne Food and Wine Festival, the uber cool RPS team is serving the menu, Rice Paper Taco.
Marrying the cuisines of SouthEast Asia and Mexico through the countries shared flavours - blasts of citrus, chilli, fresh herbs and sweet and spicy notes - this unique experience expands on Rice Paper Scissors’ existing share-style dining with guests able to mix and match five dishes from the special menu designed by RPS executive
chef, Noah Crowcroft. This culinary marriage made sense according to Venue Manager Thomas Allen, who looked after us on the night, in utilising the strengths of RPS.
From Friday, March 24 - Tuesday, April 4, the menu features dishes such as beef taquitos, chipotle chicken empanadas and jalapeno poppers as well as other takes on popular Mexican classics. With time running out, make your reservation and get on board.
Guests can fight the spice and indulge in a selection of Mexican-themed cocktails that would make even the strongest Luchadore weak at the knees; perhaps, the Pomelo Pummeler with Patron Silver, Unico Pomelo Vermouth, pomelo scrub, Capi Yuzu and sparkling wine, or a Sandita with Cazadores Tequila, Triple Sec, lime, watermelon purée and salt.
We enjoyed -
- Snapper ceviche
- Fried oysters
- Beef taquitos
- Chipotle chicken empanadas
- Braised pork ribs and Tomato Rice
- Mexican flan
- Spicy Margarita 🍹
- No Perol Spritz 🍹
- El Mariachi cocktail🍹
A fun high quality dinner and great atmosphere in Fitzroy.🥳
