Staycation at Dorsett Melbourne
We enjoyed an incredible staycation at Dorsett Melbourne (David and Sam), a stylish hotel which features masterfully designed guest rooms and suites, wellness spaces, spa & saunas, luxurious heated indoor pool, local-focussed dining venues, and attractive and stylish lounge spaces.
In a city known for its art and culture, Dorsett Melbourne is a hotel with artistic flair featuring augemented reality, photography, murals and a notable Diva Garden installation. A stay here can be seen as an "art escape" (they have Art Escape Packages).
Our staycation included Dinner for two at Port Bistro, One-night stay, Buffet Breakfast, Cocktails in stunning Jin Bar, & Club lounge access, as well as access to the 14m indoor heated swimming pool, sauna, steam room and gym. Not just the facilities, but the staff were excellent during our stay.
Checking into our room, we were amazed at the size and style of our Suite, overlooking the Diva Garden installation. Highlights included a separate lounge area, large flat screen TVs, freestanding bathtub, plush bedding, an area to work from, and luxe bathroom products.
The first stop in our stunning stacation was Jin Bar, quickly becoming a "go to" bar for many in Melbourne, where the Signature cocktails shine. Jin Bar, offers a relaxed ambience to enjoy a signature cocktail with a tailored menu that celebrates the historical gold rush of Victoria with Jin translating to ‘gold’ in Mandarin. The gold theme is celebrated with touches of gold leaf throughout the space.
A highlight was the Negroni, as well as the Not so Old Fashioned, a twist on the classic Old Fashioned that includes whiskey, fig & cinnamon bitter, and hickory smoke. I've been to Jin Bar a couple of times now and have really enjoyed it.
Our dinner in Port Bistro featured dishes such as Salt and Pepper Calamari, Kingfish crudo, an impressive 300g Angas Beef Sirloin (cooked to perfection), BBQ Beef Brisket, Crispy Fries, Charred Seasonal Baby Vegetables and stunning dessert of Sticky Date Pudding.
Everything was top notch in this modern stylish hotel with great staff and facilities in a perfect location near Melbourne theatres, sport, live music, art galleries and shopping. First impressions count, and a luxe and stylish lobby featuring local art is a highlight.
The gym and pool facilities are a standout, which have to rank as one of the best in Melbourne in any hotel.
Dorsett Melbourne have an incredible art program with commissioned artworks throughout the hotel, and a major sculpture acquisition in the central courtyard that is only visible for guests staying in the overlooking Diva Garden rooms. The Diva Garden sculpture is a site specific work by Marta Figueiredo.
Buffet breakfast was another highlight in Port Bistro, with compelling hot and cold offerings.
It was amazing to stay in Dorsett Melbourne and experience this top notch CBD offering, and to check out the development of West Side Place, which is transforming this part of Melbourne.
