Howard Park Wines Lunch at Carlton Wine Room
We enjoyed a top notch lunch at Carlton Wine Room with Howard Park Wines, the best of Margaret River wines.
Chief Winemaker Nick Bowen (mentored under Ed Carr of House of Arras) gave us the compelling history of Howard Park Wines and walked us through their range of premium wines.
Nick has a family history with Howard Park, now owned by the Burch family who have never compromised with premium quality.
We had the opportunity to experience the Jeté sparkling range including the first release of 2021 Jeté En Pointe.
We also had the opportunity to experience the Howard Park Wines Riesling range including an exceptional 2017 Howard Park Museum Riesling.
A highlight was to compare examples of iconic Abercrombie Cabernet and Chardonnay across decades. It was a thrill to experience a vertical tasting of the 2000 Howard Park Abercrombie Cabernet followed by the 2010 then 2020 vintages.
Howard Park Wines are known as a premium Margaret River wine producer but have their feet in two regions with the exceptional range from the Great Southern region. Nick told us that their location in Margaret River provided “great picking windows” and “exceptional conditions in a viticultural paradise”.
We enjoyed fabulous dishes from Carlton Wine Room that perfectly paired with the wine such as Baker Bleu sourdoughwith cultured butter, Trout rillette with roe and rye, Celeriac with crème fraiche, pinenut and laver, and main of Wagyu rump cap with black garlic, creamed kale, shiitake & bordelaise. Not to mention a selection of premium cheeses.
It was also great to connect with Jimmy, Leigh, and Sarah from distributors @alepattaylor.
